Meet Loky! Loky is a gentle, affectionate boy who is finally getting the chance to enjoy life the way every dog deserves. A distemper survivor, Loky has come through so much and is now pain-free, comfortable, and discovering just how good it feels to be safe and loved. His personality continues to blossom every day. Loky thrives in calm, loving environments and forms a deep, meaningful bond with his person. A quieter household with a yard would be perfect for him. While Loky doesn’t need another dog, he truly enjoys the company of a similarly sized canine friend and would be happiest with a gentle playmate. He enjoys relaxing walks, spending time outdoors, sharing mealtimes, and being close to his person. Loky is a wonderful couch companion, he prefers to snuggle up beside you rather than on your lap, and loves sleeping in the human bed at night (though he can also settle comfortably in his crate). Loky is a medium-energy dog who is content with a daily 30-minute walk and backyard time. He walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, rarely barks, and has a calm, easygoing presence in the home. Because of his medical journey, Loky is toothless and eats canned food for life, but this doesn’t slow him down one bit, he still happily enjoys softer chews and playtime. He’s low to no shedding with a beautifully soft coat and will require regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. Loky may be a little reserved at first in new situations, but once he feels safe, his affectionate and loyal nature shines. He is learning every day that the world is a good place, and it’s been a joy to watch him become the happy boy he was always meant to be.
