Karmina is a tiny girl with a big heart—a 2-year-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix (just 7kg) who’s journeyed from the streets of Mexico to the cozy comforts of Calgary. Delicate, dainty, and deeply affectionate, she brings warmth and sweetness wherever she goes. Every cuddle becomes a verse, and every tail wag hums with happiness. Though gentle and loving, Karmina has picked up a few street smarts along the way. She can be a bit bossy with other dogs, especially when it comes to her prized toys and treats. If another dog gets too close, she might give a warning growl, but she’s not aggressive and shares just fine with her humans. She’s not destructive, but if you’re not watching, your sock or slipper might find itself repurposed into a chew toy (you’ve been warned). On leash, Karmina walks well, though is very interested in squirrels and rabbits. She’s an alert little lady with a tendency to bark at unexpected noises or new sights. Sometimes it’s a mystery what she’s barking at, but she’s easily redirected with a bit of affection and reassurance. She’s mostly house-trained and making solid progress in her foster home. Karmina thrives in a medium-energy environment with regular walks, play sessions, and lots of time to relax near her people. She’s great with older or calmer kids, and while she’s been wary around children under five, she has shown gentleness with those who respect her space. She adores visitors, loves a good snuggle, and gives kisses like they’re going out of style.
