Shire is a perfectly normal cat, provided your definition of normal includes hanging upside down off furniture, yelling about minor inconveniences and demanding affection with the confidence of someone who owns the building. According to her foster, she is one of the greatest cats they have ever fostered. She is also an absolute weirdo. Shire is funny, affectionate, playful, athletic, nosy and tremendously entertaining. She loves attention. She cuddles with her humans, enjoys kisses and will happily involve herself in whatever you're doing, regardless of whether her involvement was requested. She is not a decorative cat. Shire is a participant. She is also dramatic. She is confident in most situations, but change is not her favourite hobby. New homes, new animals and new routines need to be introduced with a little patience rather than dropped on her all at once. Once she has had time to adjust, the nonsense resumes. Shire has lived with other cats and enjoys playing with them, although she needs proper slow introductions rather than being launched directly into somebody else's social circle. She has also met dogs and is initially wary of them, but could live with a respectful dog after a careful introduction. She has not lived with children while in foster, but could be considered for a home with respectful, animal-savvy kids. Shire's ideal people are probably a little weird themselves. Not because she is difficult. She isn't. But it would be a terrible waste to send a cat this funny, affectionate and gloriously peculiar to someone who simply wants "a nice black cat."
